Description:

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Coding Analyst is accountable for examining and designating precise medical and behavioral codes for medical diagnoses, treatments, and services carried out by doctors and other certified doctor in the workplace setting. The Coding Analyst is a professional in coding throughout a wide variety of services, consisting of examination and management, surgical treatment, radiology, pathology, behavioral, and medical treatments. The Coding Analyst shows knowledge in medical coding standards and guidelines consisting of compliance and compensation. The Coding Analyst has know-how in CPT, HCPCs, and ICD-10 in addition to understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terms essential to properly code company medical diagnosis and services. The Coding Analyst is accountable for training and/or mentoring Coding Specialist personnel. In addition, the Coding Analyst shows knowledge in rejections management, determining source and proposing services.

Minimum Qualifications:

SCF programs are developed for the function of serving a main population consisted of Alaska Natives who are connected with the Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Natives and American Indians within SCF’s geographical service location. All staff members must have a comprehensive understanding of the cultures and the requirements of the CIRI members and of the basic culture and requirements of Alaska Natives and American Indians. Such understanding is crucial in order to make sure the accomplishment of the objective and vision of SCF, “Working together with the Native neighborhood to offer the very best services with Native personnel who value the household and household health as the heart of the Native neighborhood”: Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Health Care Financial Management or associated field; OR comparable mix of training, education and associated experience.

  • CPC (Certified Professional Coding) Certification through AAPC or CCS or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Coding Specialist-Professional) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) accreditation through AHIMA needed.
  • Six (6) years of medical or behavioral coding experience.
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience operating in a healthcare company or in a position that needs understanding and application of fundamental accounting concepts or comparable.
  • Two (2) years’ experience training/mentoring others in coding CPT, E&M, ICD-10, and HCPCS
