OPERATIONS LEAD/BILLING SPECIALIST

Job Summary

The Operations Lead/Billing Representative is the principal advocate for St. Joseph Hospital (SJH) Occupational Health Department’s Accounts Receivables.

They are responsible for submitting monthly invoices to companies and workers compensation insurance carriers for SJH Occupational Health accounts. The Billing Representative will be responsible to conduct complete and timely follow-up for collection of overdue invoices.

As the operations lead, this position is also responsible for scheduling and controlling the daily working arrangements of staff and monitoring the operational flow. They support back up for administrative functions and are the lead customer service representative for clients in the clinic.

This position reports the to the Director of Service Line Development and works closely with the providers in the clinic to provide superior customer service to patients and business clients.

Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and internet-based applications.
  • Ability to multitask and interact with individuals of all ages.
  • Ability to maintain strictest level of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
  • Medical Billing Experience
  • Knowledge of basic accounting.
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter and work well independently.
  • Demonstrated organizational, leadership and teamwork skills. Strong organizational and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, providers, patients and the public.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills required, including the ability to identify, analyze and resolve operational issues.
  • Demonstrates team building skills.
  • Ability to cross cover for all non-clinical positions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, and ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment and a multi-dimensional environment.
  • Creative, flexible, self-motivated, professional must possess sound judgment ability to implement activities consistent with achieving service excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • 2 years of increasingly responsible leadership in healthcare practice management required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent years of education, training or experience required.
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine Billing
  • Knowledge and ability to work with software such as Systoc and/or EPIC
