Job Description:
The Professional Coding and Audit Specialist individually carries out audits of Centra Medical Group( CMG) service provider documents and coding of Professional Evaluation & Management (E/M) services to consist of E/M, International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, tenth variation- Clinical Modification (ICD-10- CM), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and modifiers to figure out precision based upon existing coding standards, regulative requirements and billing guidelines associated with coding. This position offers education and training to CMG service providers and personnel associated to expert coding and paperwork.
This position works from another location and needs travel about 50% of the time to all Centra areas throughout South Central Virginia.
Qualifications/Education/Licensure:
High School diploma or comparable needed. Prior experience in Professional Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding. Working understanding of the 1995 and 1997 Evaluation & Management documents standards, ICD-10- CM, CPT and HCPCS coding standards. Licensed Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialists (CCS).
Note: In lieu of a CPC or CCS accreditation a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) accreditation in combination with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Professional Evaluation & Management coding will be appropriate.
Certified Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) is chosen.
