MEDICAL CODER'S ACCURACY AND AUDITS

featured image

Discussing Medical Coder’s accuracy rates and audits. Why does it always seem like the coder’s job is on the line from month to month?
The goal is to be as accurate as possible. After all we want all the claims to be clean when billed or when information is gathered for statistical purposes.
This video is all about seeing the audits for what they are, just a safety net to make sure everything is being coded correctly. If you find yourself falling into that snowball trap of being worried about your job, you’re only hurting yourself. Instead, focus on educating yourself. Knowledge is TRULY power in the instance of accuracy AND audits. Learning how to stand up for yourself and present an argument fair and well will get you far.
Learn from your mistakes. Hopefully, your auditor will work with you towards a more successful trend if you find yourself dipping in the accuracy department. ONE bad month of audits is not going to get you fired, that would be harsh, no?
Show that you are applying yourself and don’t give up!
Also discussed was my own struggles with an auditor and what I did about it.
