Task Description:
This position is accountable for looking into and evaluating the medical records when there is a disparity in coding; confirming the coding and supporting the department in the reporting of findings. This position audits medical records to make sure compliance with the company’s coding treatments and requirements according to the CMS Coding Standards and Authorities ICD9/ICD10 Coding Standards. Evaluations insurance coverage payments and rejections and suggests coding corrections.
This position is accountable for the precise coding of medical records according to existing ICD 9/10 standards along with reporting to management on numerous coding metrics. Research study and examine the medical records when there is an inconsistency in coding; verify the coding and supporting the department in the reporting of findings. Audit medical records to guarantee compliance with the companies coding treatments and requirements according to federal government policies. Evaluation insurance coverage payments and rejections and suggests coding corrections.
TASK REQUIREMENTS
- Partner Degree OR 2 years of experience working in the medical insurance market;-LRB-
- 2 years medical coding through medical record abstraction;-LRB-
- National coding accreditation from AAPC or AHIMA to consist of several of the following:
Licensed Expert Coder (CPC), Qualified Coding Professional Doctor (CCS P), Registered Health Details Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Info Professional (RHIT);
- PC experience and abilities to consist of Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes;-LRB-
- Clear and succinct spoken and written interaction abilities;-LRB-
- Analytical abilities.
PREFERRED TASK REQUIREMENTS
- Partner or Bachelor degree;-LRB-
- Understanding of threat modification, ideally in the industrial setting;-LRB-
- Experience dealing with the Affordable Care Act;-LRB-
- Experience dealing with Medicare Benefit.
