Responsibilities

  • Reviews and audits doctors’ documents in the medical record and the level of CPT code choice to confirm precision through a concurrent coding program.
  • Determines check out, treatment and medical diagnosis code( s) based upon documents.
  • Initiates corrections and deals with disparities.
  • Confers with the doctors to interact and inform when shortages in paperwork and code choice are recognized.
  • Meets with Division Heads and Clinical Practice Directors or designees to present analytical information on audit findings, supplies beneficial suggestions and paperwork tools.
  • Keeps notified on coding and paperwork standards.
  • Performs regular monthly reconciliation in between concurrent charges sent out and gone into.
  • Ensures that all concurrent charges and essential info are sent to the billing service in a prompt way.
  • Resolves all concerns and issues with clients, 3rd party payers, billing organizers and coding and billing experts and external billing services.
  • Performs task functions sticking to service concepts with customer care focus of development, service quality and team effort to supply the greatest quality care and service to our clients, households, colleagues and others.
  • Other task functions as designated.

Qualifications

  • Certification in among the following: Certified as Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist– Physician (CCS-P), or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) needed.
  • High school diploma needed.
  • Minimum of 3 years of coding experience needed.
  • Prior experience in Evaluation and Management Coding chosen.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of CPT and ICD-9 coding by passing a test.
  • Demonstrates extensive understanding of Evaluation and Management (E/M) by passing an efficiency test; needed.
  • Ability to utilize computer system software application (i.e.: EPIC, WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated understanding and understanding of medical terms, anatomy and physiology and coding category systems in figuring out proper doctor coding.
  • Ability to interact efficiently, work individually and balance numerous top priorities.
