COVID vaccine fiasco shows Cuomo and de Blasio’s ineptitude

featured image

December 31, 2020 | 9: 43pm | Updated December 31, 2020 | 9: 43pm

Once again, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio prove their ineptitude as New York’s leaders — all talk and little action.

A Bloomberg News analysis finds that New York state has administered only 32 percent of the vaccines provided. In New York City, it’s even worse: 25.4 percent.

On Thursday, de Blasio promised 1 million vaccines for New Yorkers in the coming months. What’s he been doing for the past couple of weeks?

Alas, this isn’t just a local problem: Although

12.4 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been distributed nationwide, only 3.1 million have been given. But that doesn’t absolve New York officials, particularly when Cuomo has held himself up as the coronavirus king par excellence, even writing a book praising his own leadership.

Why aren’t there mass vaccination events? Where’s the urgency?

Cuomo and de Blasio blather on about equality, and now New Yorkers are learning what that means: In order to ensure the vaccine is distributed in a fair and equitable manner, no one should get it.

Spending plan procedure, COVID costs being undermined by OMB, Biden transition says

    featured image

    Posted December 30, 2020 at 3: 43 pm

President-elect Joe Biden’s transition is alerting that a lack of cooperation from the Trump administration’s Office of Management and Spending plan is making it difficult for the inbound group to identify coronavirus-related costs needs and could postpone the financial 2022 spending plan process.

” There are likewise health and economic effects to this blockage. OMB is essential to our federal government efficiently and effectively dealing with COVID. OMB management’s refusal to completely cooperate hinders our ability to identify chances to take full advantage of the relief heading out to Americans throughout the pandemic,” Yohannes Abraham, the executive director of the Biden-Harris shift, stated Wednesday.

The start of an administration frequently results in a hold-up in the very first release of the president’s budget from the normal February date, however Abraham indicated the absence of assistance from current OMB authorities might further make complex things next year.

” The production of the spending plan takes lots of individual hours and it takes the analytical assistance that has actually belonged of OMB’s engagement with previous shifts that we have actually not been in invoice of,” Abraham told press reporters Wednesday. “And it leaves us in the dark, as it relates to COVID-related expenditures and crucial gaps.”

At the top level, incoming White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the group was aware that extra financing would be needed for coronavirus action, consisting of vaccine circulation facilities.

” This purposefully produced opacity makes it harder for our government to safeguard the American people,” Abraham stated.

On Monday, Biden stated stonewalling by OMB and the Defense Department postured a danger to nationwide security, a scenario he stated was “nothing brief, in my view, of irresponsibility.”

Abraham said an excellent deal of work that needs to be done on the budget plan.

” We were confident, we continue to be hopeful that work could be carried out in collaboration with profession staff at OMB, which they would be provided the ability to– as they have carried out in the past– deal with an incoming administration, but there’s no doubt that lack of cooperation will cause a delay,” he stated.

Psaki also validated Wednesday the prepare for the Biden administration to carry out a regulative freeze memo starting after twelve noon on Inauguration Day to stop midnight rulemakings and last minute executive actions and policy guidance from Trump’s administration. That is a traditional part of a presidential transition, but it may be all the more crucial provided the issues in the current shift.

Psaki also stated in a reaction to a concern that the outgoing administration might make policy maneuvers that can not be quickly halted through a freeze memo. One such action could be the classification of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Pompeo is reported by the New York City Times to be considering such an act.

” There are extra actions that the Trump administration and members of the group can take in the weeks ahead, that are damaging and damaging to our policies, whether they’re national security policies or domestic policies, and there are some tools that an inbound administration and president has,” Psaki stated.

One regulatory modification by the Trump administration’s Labor Department– to make it much easier to categorize employees as independent contractors– might be warded off by a Biden freeze, she said. Enabling the modification to go through would let companies “prevent base pay and overtime defenses,” Psaki said.

Throughout the transition press briefing, she likewise reiterated other Trump executive actions that Biden and Vice President= elect Kamala Harris have actually already devoted to upending.

” In addition to the regulatory freeze memo, President Biden has assured to rescind hazardous Trump executive orders and provide on our pledges and the guarantees he and Vice President Harris made on the campaign path, consisting of by renewing protections for Dreamers, rejoining the Paris Environment Accord, reversing President Trump’s environmental rollbacks that have made our air and water dirtier and securing and enhancing the Affordable Care Act,” Psaki said.

Medical Billing vs. Medical Coding Differences Discussed

    featured image

Medical Billing vs. Medical Coding Distinctions Explained
    https://www.cco.us/course-bundles/

Alicia: Q: Medical Billing versus Medical Coding. “What’s the distinction in between Medical Billing versus Medical Coding?”.

A: Well, if I can answer that question. Let’s see here. OKAY there we go. Do you like that little graphic I discovered of the gears of the brain? Isn’t that excellent?

Medical Billing is actually everything about compensation, to start with. Consider the Billing as compensation. It’s a lot more than that however when you consider billing, that’s the first thing that’s most likely going to come to your mind.

It’s about getting the compensation for the work that was done to the client by the provider which usually is the E/M– the Evaluation and the Management of the client. Whether they did any treatments on the patient or not, he is evaluating and he is managing the care of the client, possibly it’s the illness process of the patient.

Now, Medical Coding is actually simply the language in which the deal is carried out. Coding is literally a code that the actions are translated into. By what he does to her with the Assessment and Management, CPT codes and ICD codes are appointed by the coder.

Dawn Wells, Star of Gilligan’s Island, Has Died of COVID at 82

Since Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson confirmed their diagnoses in Australia toward the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the virus has taken well over 300,000 American lives, and there are an estimated 78.7 million cases of infection worldwide. From essential workers to celebrities to the highest ranks of the government, it’s clear that anyone is susceptible. Here are all of the most prominent faces who have either announced that they tested positive or, sadly, lost their lives to the disease:

    Idris Elba

“This morning I tested positive for Covid 19,” he captioned a video on Twitter on Monday, March 16. “I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing 👊🏾👊🏾 No panic.”

    Sabrina Dhowre

On March 21, Elba’s wife, Sabrina Dhowre, revealed she also tested positive for COVID-19.

“As soon as I heard that Idris was potentially exposed, I was on my way anyway and I wanted to be with him. I think that’s an instinct as a wife; you just want to go and take care,” Dhowre told Oprah Winfrey for Oprah Talks COVID-19 on Apple TV+. “We didn’t change the way we interacted. I could have made a decision to put myself in a separate room or maybe stay away, and I’m sure people are making those decisions; they’re tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to want to be with him and still touch him.”

    Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Hanks first shared the news on Instagram that he and his wife tested positive for coronavirus in March. “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too,” Hanks wrote in his initial post. “To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

The couple—who sign each post with “Hanx”—have been keeping us updated every step of the way.

According to new photos from March 27, Hanks and Wilson have returned to L.A., looking happy and well.

    Olga Kurylenko

The Quantum of Solace actor revealed she has tested positive in an Instagram post on Sunday, March 16. “Locked up at home after having tested positive for Coronavirus. I’ve actually been ill for almost a week now. Fever and fatigue are my main symptoms. Take care of yourself and do take this seriously,” she wrote in the caption.

    Sophie Grégoire Trudeau

    Chris Jackson

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau’s office reported last week that the P.M.’s wife, Sophie, has tested positive for COVID-19. “She is feeling well, is taking all the recommended precautions and her symptoms remain mild,” Trudeau’s office said in a statement. Justin Trudeau is currently taking doctors’ advice by undergoing 14 days of isolation.

    Rudy Gobert

NBA player Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz tweeted last week that he had tested positive for COVID-19. In his original post, he apologized for touching every microphone and recorder in front of him at a media event earlier this month as a joke.

He has since shared his progress on the official NBA Twitter account, saying he is feeling “a little better every day.”

    Donovan Mitchell

Gobert’s Utah Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell has also tested positive. In an interview with Good Morning America on Monday, Mitchell said he is “asymptomatic.”

“I could walk down the street. If it wasn’t public knowledge that I was sick, you wouldn’t know it,” he added. “I think that’s the scariest part about the virus—you may seem fine, be fine, and you never know who you may be talking to, who they’re going home to.”

    Callum Hudson-Odoi

The Chelsea soccer team player tested positive for COVID-19 last week. “As you may be aware I had the virus for the last couple of days, which I have recovered from,” he said in a video posted on Twitter on Friday, March 13.

“Thank you for all your good wishes,” he wrote in the Tweet. “As I said in the video I’m feeling good and hope to see you all soon!!”

    Kristofer Hivju

Kristofer Hivju, known for playing Tormund Giantsbane on HBO’s Game of Thrones, revealed on Instagram that he’s tested positive for COVID-19 and will be self-isolating at home “for as long as it takes.”

“[My family and I] are in good health,” he wrote in the post’s caption. “I only have mild symptoms of a cold. There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1,5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading. Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals. Please take care of each other, keep your distance, and stay healthy!”

    Rachel Matthews

    Rodin Eckenroth/FilmMagic/Getty Images

Rachel Matthews, who voiced the character of Honeymaren in Frozen 2, announced on her Instagram Stories that she had tested positive for COVID-19 and has been in quarantine for the past week. “Unsure of what the next step is (been getting mixed info so will keep you posted) but obviously will remain in quarantine until told to do otherwise,” she wrote. “I’m feeling better, but I will be posting some info that I hope will be helpful to some. Please feel free to reach out and ask me any questions.”

She continued, “I really would love to help in any way I can. Again, let’s please be mindful of our decisions—now is the time to be smart and responsible. Let’s take care of one another!!”

“Looks like I’ll be ok, but I wanted [to] share my journey with you in the hopes that you find it informative or helpful,” he added in his caption. “Hope you all stay safe, calm, and above all, healthy.”

    Marcus Smart

The Boston Celtics guard announced on Twitter that he had tested positive for COVID-19. “I was tested 5 days ago and the results came back tonight, which were positive,” he said in a video. “I’ve been self-quarantined since the test, thank goodness. COVID-19 must be taken w the highest of seriousness. I know it’s a #1 priority for our nation’s health experts, & we must get more testing ASAP.”

    Sean Payton

The head coach of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints told ESPN on March 19 that he had tested positive. He said he is resting at home and feeling fatigued. “This is not just about social distancing,” he said. “It’s shutting down here for a week to two weeks. If people understand the curve, and understand the bump, we can easily work together as a country to reduce it. Take a minute to understand what the experts are saying. It’s not complicated to do what they’re asking of us. Just that type of small investment by every one of us will have a dramatic impact.”

    Colton Underwood

The 28-year-old former Bachelor revealed on Twitter that he tested positive for COVID-19. “This virus doesn’t care how old or healthy you are,” he wrote in the caption. “Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones and stay home.” In the video, he pointed out that he is relatively young and in shape and still struggling with the virus. “It’s been kicking my ass, just to put it bluntly,” he said.

    Debi Mazar

The Younger actor posted about her diagnosis on Instagram on Saturday, March 22.

Per CNN, the heir to the British throne has tested positive for coronavirus but his wife, Camilla, is negative. “The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual,” a statement from Clarence House reads. “The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus. In accordance with government and medical advice, the Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland. The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing. It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

The statement also said the queen remains “in good health.”

On March 30, Clarence House announced Charles was out of self-isolation, while Camilla would remain so until the end of the week, per government guidelines.

    Boris Johnson

It was announced on March 27 that the U.K.’s prime minister has tested positive. “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus,” he tweeted, while continuing to urge people to stay home. “I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.”

    Chris Cuomo

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo announced on Twitter on Tuesday, March 31, that he had tested positive for coronavirus and is quarantining at home. Cuomo, along with his brother, New York governor Andrew Cuomo, has become one of the faces of the coronavirus pandemic. At his daily briefing on Tuesday, Governor Cuomo shared his brother’s diagnosis, adding with his usual color commentary, “He’s young, in good shape, strong—not as strong as he thinks—but he’ll be fine.”

    Adam Schlesinger

Schlesinger, the co–front man of band Fountains of Wayne, had been hospitalized and on a ventilator after contracting the coronavirus, his attorney told Variety. The musical artist—a 10-time Emmy nominee for his work as a songwriter and musical producer on The CW’s Crazy Ex Girlfriend—sadly died from complications of the virus on April 1.

    Ali Wentworth

The actor-comedian-writer (and wife of Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulus) revealed she had tested positive in an Instagram post. “I have tested positive for the Coronavirus. Sara Bareilles

The singer-songwriter revealed she had coronavirus on her Instagram Stories but says she is now feeling better. “I had it, just so you know. I’m fully recovered, just so you know,” she said. “And I am just thinking about all the people who are walking through this really tricky time and sending a lot of love and just being really grateful for every easy breath and every day that I get to be walking around. I’m really quiet right now and will probably continue to be quiet, just sort of taking all of this in and having a lot of feelings, as I do.”

    Joe Exotic

    NETFLIX

The central figure of Netflix’s hit Tiger King docuseries has been hospitalized with coronavirus complications, the New York Post reported on April 2.

    Brooke Baldwin

    Pink

Pop star Pink wrote on Instagram Friday, April 3, that her family starting showing symptoms of coronavirus, and she tested positive. “My family was already sheltering at home and we continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative. It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible,” she wrote.

    J.K. Rowling

The author of the Harry Potter series opted not to be tested (COVID-19 tests are still hard to come by and many have suggested holding tests for those suffering from severe symptoms), but she took to Twitter to tell her fans that she thinks she had likely suffered from the virus for the past two weeks and has made a full recovery.

“Thank you for your kind and lovely messages,” she tweeted after her announcement.

    Kenneth “Babyface” Edmunds

The R&B singer and producer revealed on Twitter he and his family had tested positive for the coronavirus. “I would like to warmly thank everyone for all the birthday wishes today,” he said. “I feel so blessed to be able to celebrate another birthday. I tested positive for Covid19, as did my family. It’s an incredibly scary thing to go through my friends.” But he says they are doing well and are “on our way back to full health.”

    George Stephanopoulus

The Good Morning America cohost announced he had tested positive, weeks after his wife, Ali Wentworth, confirmed she had COVID-19. He said he wasn’t surprised by his test results but that he’s been asymptomatic. “I’ve never had a fever, never had chills, never had a headache, never had a cough, never had shortness of breath,” he said. “I’m feeling great.”

    Sam Smith

Sam Smith chose not to get tested but insists they are recovering from COVID-19. “I didn’t get tested, but I know I have it,” they said in a FaceTime interview with Zane Lowe, according to People. “I’m just going to assume that I did because everything I’ve read completely pointed to that. Sam added that their sister also experienced symptoms, so they isolated together for three weeks to protect the rest of their family. “I’ve got an older nan, so we didn’t want to risk anything,” they said. Thankfully, Sam assured fans that they’re feeling better and working on new music.

    Zoey Deutch

On May 19, the Politician actor revealed to Vulture that she had tested positive for COVID-19. Deutch tested positive “before the shutdown,” she said. “I continued testing positive for a month, which is longer than they’re saying you’re supposed to. I’m okay now. I’m so grateful for my health and I also feel guilty, in a way, for making it out okay.”

    Nick Cordero

Broadway star Nick Cordero died on July 5, following more than 90 days battling COVID-19. “God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth,” Cordero’s wife, Amanda Kloots, shared on Instagram.

    Kanye West

    SAUL LOEB/Getty Images

In an interview with Forbes discussing his presidential “platform,” published on July 8, West revealed he was diagnosed with COVID-19 in February, although he does not believe in fighting the virus with a vaccine…for some reason.

“It’s so many of our children that are being vaccinated and paralyzed…. So when they say the way we’re going to fix COVID is with a vaccine, I’m extremely cautious,” he said. “That’s the mark of the beast. They want to put chips inside of us, they want to do all kinds of things, to make it where we can’t cross the gates of heaven. I’m sorry when I say they, the humans that have the devil inside them. And the sad thing is that, the saddest thing is that we all won’t make it to heaven, that there’ll be some of us that do not make it. Next question.”

So what does West believe the cure will be? “We pray. We pray for the freedom. It’s all about God. We need to stop doing things that make God mad,” he said. Okay.

    Doja Cat

On July 24, Doja Cat revealed she tested positive for COVID-19 during an interview with Capital XTRA. “I got COVID. Honestly, I don’t know how this happens, but I guess I ordered something off of Postmates and I don’t know how I got it, but I got it,” she said, per Vulture. “I’m okay now. It was a four-day symptom freakout, but I’m fine now.”

Back in March, Doja Cat joked about the virus, seemingly mocking those who took the national health crisis seriously. “I’m gonna get corona and then I’m gonna get a Corona, ’cause I don’t give a fuck about corona, bitch,” she said on Instagram at the time. “It’s a flu! Y’all are pussies.”

    Lena Dunham

On July 31, Lena Dunham took to Instagram to share her “Covid Story.” Swipe through to hear about her journey with coronavirus, which started in mid-March.

    Alyssa Milano

The Who’s the Boss star took to Instagram on August 6 to share her experience with COVID-19. Despite testing negative twice, Milano says she suffered from a multitude of coronavirus that left her sicker than she’s ever been in April. “I had never been this kind of sick. Everything hurt. Loss of smell. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I couldn’t breathe,” she recounted. “I couldn’t keep food in me. I lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks. I was confused. Low grade fever. And the headaches were horrible.”

After living with symptoms for four months, Milano shared that she tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies. “I just want you to be aware that our testing system is flawed and we don’t know the real numbers,” the actor warned.

    Antonio Banderas

The actor announced he tested positive for COVID-19 on his Instagram feed. CNN translated his caption.

“Hello everyone, I want to make public that today, August 10, I am forced to celebrate my 60th birthday following quarantine, having tested positive with Covid-19 disease,” he wrote. “I would like to add that I feel relatively well, just a little more tired than usual and confident that I will recover as soon as possible following the medical indications that I hope will allow me to overcome the infectious process that I suffer and that is affecting so many people around the planet.

“I will take advantage of this isolation to read, write, rest and continue making plans to begin to give meaning to my 60th year to which I arrive full of enthusiasm,” he continued. “A big hug to everyone.”

    Brian Cox

Succession’s patriarch, Brian Cox, revealed to James Corden that he had COVID-19 but “never felt anything.”

“I’m a diabetic, and I went from my usual bloods that I usually have between months,” Cox told Corden. “I went there, and they took my bloods, and they took the COVID test. Then my doctor called me and said, ‘Oh, congratulations. You’ve had it.’”

    Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

The Rock posted a video message on Instagram to let his fans know he, his wife (Lauren Hashian), and their two young daughters all tested positive for COVID-19. He says they contracted the virus from family friends.

“I wish it was only me who tested positive, but it wasn’t,” he said. “It was my entire family, so this one was a real kick in the gut. But I am happy to tell you guys that we as a family are good. We’re on the other end of it, we’re on the other side. We’re no longer contagious, and we are—thank God—we are healthy.”

He urged people to not let their “guard down” and to be diligent about wearing masks. “The other thing is wear your mask. We have been in quarantine for months. We wear our masks every day,” Johnson said. “This baffles me that some people out there, including some politicians, will take this idea of wearing mask and make it a political agenda. It has nothing to do with politics. Wear your mask. It is a fact, and it is the right thing to do. And it’s the responsible thing to do.”

    Robert Pattinson (reportedly)

The comedian opened up about being tested “12 times” to Dr. Anthony Fauci in a recent YouTube video on the star’s page.

“I was working on a movie, and someone in the movie contracted coronavirus,” Haddish told Fauci, per People. “I was not in direct contact with them, but they sent all of us home; we stopped the movie. They suggested I go get tested. I got tested, got the results back two days later. They said I didn’t have the coronavirus.”

Then she found out another person she knew contracted the coronavirus. “Get the tests the second time. I’m not feeling any symptoms or anything, and it comes back like two days later, and they said I did have the coronavirus,” she said. “Then I went and tested again, didn’t have the virus, and then I got tested for antibodies, they said I had antibodies. That was three months ago, I’ve been tested 12 times now because I’ve been working and everything.”

Haddish added that she got tested one more time for the virus and the antibodies and came up negative for both. “So I think I’m superhuman.”

The fitness trainer says she contracted COVID-19 from a close friend. “I would love to tell you that’s not the case, but the reality is I literally [let] my guard down for an hour with one of my best friends who does my hair and makeup and got it,” she told Fox News during an interview. “It’s just that simple.

“If you’re not in a mask and that person is not in a mask, and they have COVID and have no idea—because, by the way, I had no idea that I had it for six days [and] my friend had no idea that she had it when she gave it to me—anticipate that you will likely get it in an environment like that,” she continued, warning against going to a public gym to work out.
