Congressman-elect Luke Letlow dies after Covid diagnosis

A congressman-elect from Louisiana died Tuesday evening from issues of Covid-19 days prior to he was set to be sworn into workplace, his spokesman announced. He was 41.

Luke Letlow, a Republican politician, was elected to represent Louisiana’s fifth Congressional District in a runoff this month

A representative, Andrew Bautsch, confirmed Letlow’s death at Ochsner-LSU Health Shreveport on Letlow’s Facebook page

” The household values the many prayers and assistance over the past days however requests personal privacy throughout this challenging and unforeseen time,” Bautsch stated in a statement. “A statement from the household along with funeral arrangements will be revealed at a later time.”

Letlow is survived by his better half, Julia Barnhill Letlow, and two young kids, Bautsch said.

He died less than a week prior to the new Congress is to be sworn in on Jan. 3.

Louisiana’s congressional delegation, consisting of House Republican politician Whip Steve Scalise, stated in a declaration that “we are ravaged to hear of Luke Letlow’s death.”

Letlow likewise worked for former Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who tweeted that he and his partner, Supriya, were sad.

Letlow beat fellow Republican Lance Harris in a runoff election this month, 62 percent to 38 percent, according to the secretary of state’s site.

He was chief of personnel for Rep. Ralph Abraham, whom he was chosen to be successful in Congress, Edwards stated. Abraham revealed that he was not running for re-election in February.
