Task Summary:

Monitors and takes part in the day-to-day workflow of medical records coding, guaranteeing that coding, the release of info, and quality assurance are carried out in compliance with federal, state, regional, and institutional policies.

Task Responsibilities: Recommends policies and treatments to keep and enhance the quality and performance of the work system.

  • Keeps an eye on department coding performance and precision requirements and produces performance and quality reports for management.
  • Carries out the quality evaluation of inpatient and outpatient coding; takes part in source analysis of coding-related rejections.
  • Translates scientific information utilizing working understanding of anatomy, physiology, illness procedure, and medical terms.
  • Offers assistance and assistance to personnel with coding-related charge modifies.
  • Functions lines and account resolutions; reacts to coding-related concerns from clients, suppliers, and medical departments.
  • Will examine, analyze and appoints diagnostic and procedural codes based upon medical record paperwork and coding concepts.

Education:

  • A high school diploma or GED is needed.

Experience:

  • 8 (8) years of experience in medical record abstraction and coding is needed.
  • Accreditation from an expert coding company, such as Accreditation by the American Health Info Management (AHIMA) and American Academy of Expert Coders (AAPC), is needed.

Supervisory Requirements:

  • Has the authority to direct others’ work, hire or fire staff members, or supply suggestions regarding the hiring, shooting, development, promo, or any other modification of status of other workers.
