Are you interested in medical billing and coding? I respond to two viewers who sent in the following messages asking questions that people who are researching the field of medical coding often ask.
I hope that you’ll subscribe and like this video so you can follow me on more adventures in medical coding 🙂
Hi! I saw a few of your videos on you tube and you seem like the person who can point me in the right direction. I am currently a full time radiology tech only working Tuesday through Friday, days only. I wanted to find a job that I can work from home and make some more money. I want to do something useful with my time.
I don’t know what the job market looks like for a remote part time, weekend and evenings medical coder.
I also wanted to know what your thoughts are on which educational training would be best. I have looked at AAPC and I thought it looked like it would be a solid choice. I don’t know if AHIMA is more widely recognized and preferred? I also spoke to an online University and their program is 14 months and I was quoted $18,000! I much prefer the idea of 4 to 6 months with AAPC or AHIMA.
I was thinking of starting with the CPC certification and then maybe adding another certification once I get comfortable with the CPC. What would be your recommendation as far as what certification to start with and then what order would be best to start adding certifications.
I have to say I loved your you tube videos and hearing your laugh. It’s noticeable that you are just truly a genuine and kind person. Hope to hear from you soon, and thank you for your time. Have a great day –

hello i have a medical coding and billing certificate but i have never worked as a biller or coder and to my understanding you have to work in the field prior to attempt taking any of the credential testing. Is that correct?
