Position Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of medical coding guidelines, guidelines and compliance enabling to much better deal with problems such as medical need, declares rejections, bundling concerns and charge capture.
  • Knowledge of medical terminoogy, abbreviations, strategies and surgeries; anatomy and physiology; significant illness procedures and determine particular medical findings, to support existing medical diagnoses, or validate listing extra medical diagnoses in the medical record.
  • Knowledge of main coding conventions and guidelines developed by the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for task of diagnostic and procedural codes, NCCI edits and LCDs.
  • Performs coding and abstracting on all outpatient/inpatient treatments, assessment and management encounter documents and/or operative report by picking and reporting ICD-10 medical diagnoses, CPT and HCPCS treatment codes and add modifiers when suitable.
  • Knowledge of how to incorporate medical coding standards and payor particular coding requirements.
  • Reviews and confirms workplace superbills and suitable development note and/or personnel note.
  • Reports daily down coding and up coding paperwork concerns by practice and by doctor to department Manager. Reports any doctor paperwork problems to department supervisor.
  • Responsible for depending on date and keeping currrent status of coding qualifications and finishes yearly continued education hours.
  • Observes work hours and offers correct notification relating to lacks and tardiness, notifies manager about own location throughout each workday.
  • Performs other associated department tasks which might be inclusive however not noted in task description.
  • Maintains favorable working relationship with Physician Practices and interacts with workplace personnel as required.

Qualifications:

  • CPC or CCS-P Certification Required
  • High School graduate
  • Five plus years experience in Coding and Billing, Knowledge of ICD-10- CM and CPT
