Alicia: Q: [Medical Coding Basics – Cardiology] I am having trouble putting all of it together! Reading a concern and finding out what to do in cardio issues. Can you discuss cardio?

A: What I chose to do was take a couple cases and these are genuine cases edited with individuals that have cardio problems. Just reveal you how to abstract, what to look for when you’re going to be coding a case with someone in cardiology. These might not be simply cardiology, they might be a practice, but they in fact are cardiology cases.

We have fibromuscular hyperplasia of the right kidney artery per arteriogram– we understood we were going to code that– high blood pressure and moderate hypercholesterolemia.

When you’re doing risk modification and HCC coding, you have to draw a line; so I see something that’s going to be a diagnosis, I desire to see if there’s a medication, that’s the most convenient method to draw a line. On top of that, you’re going to go down here and say, “OK, this is the history that they’re taking, blood pressure is pointed out. We see that they took the important signs, which is probably always going to happen.
