Responsible for overseeing coding staff, schedule, keeping manager informed of progress or any delays in coding. Conversion of diagnosis and treatment procedures into codes utilizing the international classification of diseases. Requires skill in sequencing of diagnosis/procedures. Ensures that all records are coded in an accurate and timely manner. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- AAPC or AHIMA certification required with a secondary certification preferred.
- Current or previous Leadership/Management experience in coding department required.
- 5 years of Certified Inpatient Medical Coding required.
- Certified Outpatient Medical Coding preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a coding position required.
- Ability to thrive on change required.
- Ability to switch between clients required.
- Must be knowledgeable in the laws affecting coding requirements and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies.
- Must be able to work/train remotely. Some in office training may be required.
