The medical secretary is responsible for greeting and assisting patients, other guests and vendors. Maintains an expert mindset and offers a positive and welcoming environment. The secretary is accountable for signing in and taking a look at patients using the EMR systems, confirming demographics, upgrading patient profile, collection of co-payments or any impressive balances. Setting up follow up appointments and/or specialized visits. The secretary will confirm insurance coverage eligibility prior to consultations and is responsible for inspecting for/requesting referrals along with validating visits. Responsible to follow up without any shows, and communicate any billing concerns prior to appointments. Responses all incoming phone calls, schedules appointments and addresses messages in the phone container. Obtains prior permissions for provider check outs, diagnostic treatments and tests. Preserve and ensure HIPAA compliance with patient medical records and personal health details including updating patient profile. Order workplace products and keep appropriate level of supplies. Assist in the care and maintenance of devices. Credentials: High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in service administration or healthcare related course of study or similar education wanted. Healthcare experience wanted, preferably in a doctor #s office. Understanding of medical terms helpful. Excellent computer system skills needed. Experience with EMR software application preferred. # Outstanding interpersonal abilities needed in order to deal efficiently and courteously with clients, households and co-workers. Understanding of medical terms valuable. Outstanding computer system abilities needed. Experience with EMR software application wanted. Excellent interpersonal abilities essential in order to deal successfully and courteously with patients, households and colleagues. Capability to prioritize work and total jobs in a timely manner.
