POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the basic instructions of the Manager of the Rapid Response Laboratory, offers secondary assistance for medical activities by efficiency and proper analysis of moderate and high intricacy scientific lab tests as specified under CLIA ’88 A minimal menu of Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology screening is carried out in the Rapid Response Lab.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:
- After specialized training and needed experience, carries out moderate and high intricacy tests and translates them.
- Acts as a resource and translates tests for lab users in a way constant with level of training and understanding.
- Reviews screening and/or treatments carried out by other personnel to keep compliance with regulative firms as needed.
- Prioritizes STAT and regular samples.
- Ensures precise specimen recognition and specimen labeling constant with area and department standard procedure.
- Ensures suitability of sample for asked for screening, acquires approval for screening which differs standard procedure and follows up with notice to client care system and documents in LIS.
- Ensures sample screening is carried out within the specified period for each test type based upon specimen practicality as laid out in area particular policies and treatments.
- Initiates suitable action and files actions required to fix mislabeled/unlabeled or improper specimens in a way constant with Departmental Policies and Procedures and with the Departmental Service Mission.
- Identifies labeling issues or inconsistencies; notifies other lab areas about client recognition or medical record number issues.
- Ensures that ready samples are kept according to standard procedure (e.g. cooled, frozen, bred).
- Ensures aliquotting and processing of specimens is carried out within recognized time frame for each test.
- Accessions specimens according to standard procedure.
- Performs instrument and devices upkeep as specified by each area’s policy and treatments.
- Recognizes instrument, devices or approach issues and/or inconsistencies and brings them, with documents, to Assistant Supervisor or Supervisor’s attention in a prompt way.
- Performs and evaluates outcomes of Quality Control activities according to Section Policy and Procedures.
- Recognizes technical and non-technical problems/discrepancies in lab operations and brings these problems/discrepancies to Assistant Supervisor or Supervisor’s attention.
- Performs and translates the credibility of outcomes of analytic treatments according to Section Policy and Procedures.
- Maintains clear, succinct, precise and clear records of test efficiency.
- Provides correct paperwork and records of all test treatments carried out.
- Reviews client results, acknowledges issues and/or disparities, carries out and records all extra or confirmatory screening essential to validate reporting of client outcome and informs Assistant Supervisor or Supervisor.
- Investigates, fixes to the degree possible and files events of aberrant or irregular client test outcomes.
- Transcribes results/information with precision into LIS system.
- Appends proper coded remarks as needed by area standard procedure.
- Uses LIS to promote clearness and proper analysis of lab outcomes.

- Ensures all work is finished and/or represented according to area policy.
- Assists other lab areas as required when directed by supervisory team member.
- Participates in Quality Advancement/Quality Improvement activities according to Departmental policies and treatments.
- Performs specimen collection treatments (when appropriate) as described in the Lab Support Services Phlebotomy Procedures.
- Maintains preliminary and yearly proficiency documents as detailed in area policies and treatments.
- Maintains age particular proficiency for all tests/procedures carried out as needed by regulative firms.
- Attends department continuing education classes throughout the year.
- Participates in clinical or service associated continuing education classes.
- Attends all set up personnel conferences or, if not able, accepts obligation for checking out conference minutes throughout work time.
- Supports education of Medical Technology trainees, Pathology citizens, brand-new personnel and others through involvement in mentor activities which might be didactic and/or “benchside”.

EDUCATION:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree from a certified university or college in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science that includes effective conclusion of a monitored course of medical internship in an authorized medical facility lab or A Bachelor’s degree in a used science (Chemistry, Biology and Biochemistry).
- Experience needed with Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology and Biochemistry: should have 2 years of experience in a medical lab. Experience needed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science: should have one year experience in medical lab.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires the understanding of scientific tests and requirements needed to carry out extremely complicated tests as specified by CLIA (see appendix A) and properly report outcomes.
- Requires the analytic capabilities to carry out extremely complicated screening as specified under CLIA 88 as noted in the appendix A to translate findings, carry out estimations, adjust instruments, evaluation extremely intricate screening carried out by other staff members as specified by CLIA standards etc. Needs the capability to keep compliance with all regulative firm (e.g. JC, CAP, FDA, AABB) requirements. - Prior experience with scientific bacteriology and molecular diagnostics evaluating highly chosen. ASCP accreditation highly chosen.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Must have earnings code, CPT and HCPC coding understanding.
