Task Summary
The Coding Expert III, Inpatient position is a PRN, per re nata (as required), position. This is a remote function that concentrates on coding and abstracting inpatient accounts.
Experience and Education
- Needed 3 to 5 (3-5) years severe healthcare facility based coding experience. A comparable mix of education and experience might be thought about.
- Experience operating in a remote environment chosen; needed for PRN Coders.
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or Partner Degree in Health Info Management and/or carefully associated field Registered Health Info Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Info Service Technician (RHIT), or AHIMA Licensed Coding Professional (CCS) credential
Task Responsibilities
- Accountable for coding concurrent or retrospective inpatient accounts utilizing ICD-10 CM/PCS, in compliance with the Authorities Coding Standards and conventions.
- Precisely recognizes most suitable Admit Medical diagnosis, Principal Medical Diagnosis, and Treatment for the DRG, and all secondary medical diagnoses to properly show all CC/MCC’s, POA status, and Intensity of Health Problem and Threat of Death.
- Properly abstracts needed information components consisting of, release personality, discharge location, treatment dates and doctor( s), and other designated information.
- Determines when a doctor inquiry is suitable for more explanation.
- Acknowledges when the documents is missing out on or insufficient and paths properly.
- Finishes evaluation and last coding when question and/or documents is offered.
- Preserve the Quality Standards set by UTSW/HIM Coding.
- Preserve the Efficiency Standards set by UTSW/HIM Coding.
- Mentor/train on designated coding service lines as asked for to make sure quality.
- Keeps a professional level of understanding of coding associated standards and practices.
- Other responsibilities as designated
Working Conditions
This task is remote just and people who live in the task will completely work 100% from an alternate authorized worksite. Any certifications to be thought about as equivalents in lieu of mentioned minimums need previous approval of the Vice President for Human Being Resources Administration, or his/her designee.
