POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs inpatient coding quality audits to confirm code project is supported by scientific documents in the medical record. Extremely skilled in the appropriate project of ICD-10- CM and PCS codes.

SECRET DUTIES:

  • Carries out coding audits of a wide range of complicated inpatient records to verify the ICD-10- CM, PCS codes, MS-DRG and/or APR DRG projects.
  • Supplies composed, detailed reasoning and supporting proof for suggestions on audit findings.
  • Provides instructional feedback to coding personnel concerning audit findings.
  • Offers assistance to coding personnel and management in determining and fixing coding concerns.
  • Recognizes paperwork enhancement chances that affect coding precision.
  • Starts doctor questions for explanation of documents in the medical record to attain precise code task.
  • Teams up with the scientific paperwork enhancement group for disputes in between code tasks.
  • Evaluations and looks into billing edits.
  • Helps with DRG rejections from payers consisting of looking into and composing appeal letters.
  • Capability to translate Medicare and NCCI standards, National and Regional Protection Decisions to support coding compliance.
  • Preserves a minimum of 95% precision on all coding audits.
  • Keeps efficiency requirement of around 20 inpatient coding evaluations daily.

REQUIRED UNDERSTANDING & ABILITIES:

  • Experience 3-5 years progressive coding experience in severe care health center setting, consisting of auditing
  • Certification/Licensure: AHIMA accreditation needed, such as RHIA, RHIT or CCS,
  • Software/Hardware: Meditech and 3M 360 experience needed; Cerner experience useful.
  • Other: This is a remote position, and should live within a Steward working with state.
