Rep. Walden Talks Surprise Medical Billing on CSPAN's Newsmakers

The Committee on Energy and Commerce is the earliest standing legal committee (developed 1795) in the U.S. House of Representatives and is vested with the broadest jurisdiction of any congressional licensing committee.

Today, the committee has obligation for matters consisting of telecoms, customer security, food and drug security, public health and research study, ecological quality, energy policy, and interstate and foreign commerce to name a few.

The committee is led by E&C Chairman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and E&C Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR).
