Your day.

As a Coding Supervisor you need to know how to:

  • Be responsible for primary oversight of coding functions such as: charge entry, abstraction, and maintenance of coding work queues.
  • May manage audit/education processes to promote timely completion of reports and communicate findings to management for possible action.
  • Use research skills to investigate payer requirements to address questions raised by associates related to coding activities.
  • May assist in performing audits and development of reports.
  • Maintain assigned supervisor and coding escalation work queues and collaborate with management in other departments, as needed, to resolve coding and claim issues.
  • Mentor associates and participate in interviews. Orient, train counsel, discipline and evaluate associates. Monitor associate productivity and quality standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction in resolving operational issues. Serve as a resource person for associates.
  • Monitor and evaluate key processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist associates in other departments in understanding coding issues and provide guidance in developing appeals to payers.
  • Complete and participate on special projects.

This position is 100% remote

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of medical office experience with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in professional coding
  • Strong computer software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) or Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHCA) or other specialty coding certification through AAPC
  • At least five (5) years of professional coding experience
  • Familiarity with coding software, such as Encoder Pro or 3M
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
