Coding Expert - Ancillary Coder

Function

The Medical Coding Expert abstracts medical info from health records and designates precise and total codes in accordance with Authorities Coding Standards and iMedX requirements as suitable.

Organizational Structure: The Coding Expert reports to the Coding Supervisor.

Secret Duties: Abstracts appropriate scientific details from the health records.

• Determines the principal and secondary medical diagnoses based upon the Coding Standards.
• Designates ICD-10- CM codes to the principal and secondary medical diagnoses.
• Determines treatments based upon Coding Standards.
• Designates ICD-10 codes to the treatments.
• Appoint concept medical diagnoses for DRG compensation.
• Appoints proper principal and secondary ICD-10- CM codes with attention to precise sequencing.
• Complies with the Medical Coding Effort (CCI) modifies when designating codes.
• Satisfies or goes beyond the iMedX coding quality requirements.
• Understands and sticks to all requirements connected to coding compliance.
• Carries out coding in an effective and efficient way using great time management and expert work practices. Satisfies efficiency requirements for position.
• Refers coding concerns to the Coding Supervisor in a prompt way for feedback and coding standard advancement.
• Continuously improves coding abilities. Takes part in group conferences and academic conferences to make sure coding practice stays existing.
• Preserves privacy and safeguards the personal privacy of safeguarded health details (PHI).
• Promotes the Business’s worths.
• Carries out other task associated tasks as might be appointed or needed.

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Conclusion of an official coding program. Qualified Coding Expert (CCS), Registered Health Details Service Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Details Administrator (RHIA) or other AHIMA or AAPC authorized coding credential chosen.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ coding work experience including a working understanding of the ICD and CPT coding systems; medical terms; anatomy and physiology; and health record material. Exhibitions a sense of seriousness towards work, has intermediate level computer system abilities, attention to information, exceptional client service and composed and spoken interaction abilities.
