Position Summary

The Outpatient Coding Professional evaluates and analyzes paperwork in the medical record advertisement abstracts the information aspects in the electronic medical record. They designate diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) and ambulatory payment categories (APC’s); finishes abstracts for client information; and deals with all medical records relating to coding medical diagnoses and treatments. The Coding Professional guarantees the precision and efficiency of appointed medical diagnosis and treatment codes and verifies versus the medical paperwork and claim information, developing principal/first noted medical diagnosis and secondary medical diagnoses. Education

Accreditation

Licensed (or licensed within one year of work) by the American Health Info Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Expert Coders (AAPC) as a:

– CPC: Licensed Expert Coder;-LRB-
– COC: Licensed Outpatient Coder;-LRB-
– CCS-P: Qualified Coding Specialist-Physician-based;-LRB-
– Or other comparable coding accreditation.

Experience

Physical Needs

Need to know anatomy, physiology and medical terms; and know DRGs/APC’s.

Needs to effectively pass the Medical Records Coding tests (CPT and ICD-10), prior to work, with a rating of a minimum of 70%.

Unique Needs

Need to have remarkable customer support abilities and expert rules. Should have competent understanding and capability to utilize a computer system (needs to be keyboard competent) and other workplace innovation (i.e., telephone, fax, and so on). Need to have understanding and ability in utilizing MS Excel. Should have working understanding of MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Task needs taking a trip throughout the SRHS service location – with the staff member supplying his/her own transport. Need to have a legitimate chauffeur license.
