Duties

  • Understand and use appropriate coding, regulative and compliance standards, APCs, ICD10, CPT, E&M, treatment codes and modifiers, and uses documents standards.
  • Maintains 95% coding precision while conference department’s performance requirements.
  • Take part in personnel conversations and offers important input to the group.

Certifications

Needed:

  • High School Degree, GED, or comparable mix of education and experience from which equivalent understanding and capabilities can be obtained is required.
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC, CCS-P
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in outpatient center abstracting coding (ICD9, ICD10, HCPCS and CPT) and center coding modifiers. Experience might be replacemented for a Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics or Health Details Management in addition to needed accreditation.
  • Working understanding of insurance coverage strategies, LCD/NCD’s
  • Capability to deal with scientific specialists
  • Medical records and EMR/EHR understanding
  • Medical terms, Anatomy and Physiology

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience dealing with scientific specialists
  • Previous oncology or Transplant coding
  • Previous training experience with clinicians
  • E & M, Surgical and Infusion coding
  • ICD10 training and/or Dual/Double coding experience
  • IMPRESSIVE HB, 3M encoder WHALE and Mindscape experience
