Training for this position is onsite for 2-3 months.
Code medical records utilizing ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 Category Systems and ICD-10- CM and ICD-10- PCS. Abstract medical records utilizing Meditech Chart Coding/3M Software Application Systems. Group medical records into DRG or ASC groups. Enhances compensation with attention to numerous payer standards. Functions as a resource relating to suitability of codes, analysis of documents, medical terms, and compensation. Takes part in quantitative evaluation of documents utilizing provided requirements.
Position Credentials
CCS accreditation or eligibility; a minimum of one year healthcare facility inpatient coding experience.
A.S. or B.S. in Health Info Management chosen; RHIT or RHIA chosen
ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 Coding, Familiarity with ICD-10- CM and ICD-10- PCS.
DRG, ASC organizing experience. Familiarity with encoders and abstracting approaches and systems. Typical time invest coding/abstracting: ACS – 8 minutes per chart Inpatient – 15-20 minutes per chart Capability to code one kind of record with 98% precision while keeping the recognized efficiency.
