Coding Manager

The Coding Supervisor is accountable for the everyday coding activities within the Health Information Management Department for the particular severe care center( ies,) within the marketplace. Assists with the development and shipment of instructional presentations/material associated to coding.

Monitors development and accomplishment of coding objectives and goals and reports such details in a prompt way as asked for by management.

Monitors workflow, performance and quality of coding and abstracting functions per system standards. Carries out regular audits of work carried out by all employee.

Maintains understanding of all federal and state guidelines and associated coding standards.

Assists in the advancement of policies and treatments and screens personnel compliance with policy and treatments.

Acts as the on-site resource individual for coding associated concerns, to consist of helping members of the medical personnel and members of the management group.

Completes personnel schedules and timecards according to Company policy. Holds personnel responsible for compliance with paid time off, (PTO) policies.

Acts as a technical resource and helps with resolution of technical concerns and/or deals with suitable staff/department to correct technical problems hampering the functions of the coding group.

If work needs, precisely designates codes to any medical record in conformance with American Hospital Association, (AHA) coding standards and/or monetary payer requirements. Appoints proper modifiers and present on admission, (POA) indications as needed. Appoints proper Diagnosis Related Group, (DRG) to show the paperwork within the medical record.

Minimum Education Requirement:

2 Year/Associate’s Degree

Preferred Education:

4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree

License/ Certification Requirement:

Certified Coding Specialist, (CCS,) or CIC (for Inpatient) or COC for Outpatient, Registered Health Information Technician, (RHIT,) or Registered Health Information Administrator, (RHIA)

Preferred Certifications:

ICD-10 Credentialed Trainer accreditation, Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR)

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
