Work Hours/Shift: Full Time/ Day
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Reviews, evaluates, and analyzes medical documents, looking for information from the doctor when inconsistencies exist.
- Effectively interacts with doctors and allied health workers the requirement for extensive, precise prompt medical documents.
- Applies ICD-9 codes, ICD-10 codes, DRG codes, present on admission codes, client status codes, and getting involved doctor codes with an understanding of how each is utilized and the effect the precision of the information has on death rates, scientific quality, compensation, internal rating cards and essential quality signs.
- Utilizes extensive understanding of the Official Coding Guidelines, Coding Clinic assistance, medical requirement and protection decisions
- Uses important thinking and sound judgment in choice making; keeping compensation factors to consider in balance with regulative compliance.
- Assumes individual obligation for expert development, advancement, and continuing education to preserve a high level of efficiency.
- Maintains the privacy of staff members, clients, administrative personnel and medical personnel details without any violations
- Performs concurrent coding as appointed.
Qualifications
What Will You Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experienced level with a minimum of 3-5 years severe care inpatient coding experience in a medical facility setting
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- RHIA, RHIT, or CCS or accreditation or credential
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- One-two years of coding education consisting of official education in anatomy, physiology and medical terms.
- Comprehensive experience with cases that need a more intricate level of coding
Job Summary:
The Inpatient Coder is accountable for examining, evaluating and translating scientific paperwork included in the medical record using proper ICD9 and DRG codes conventions and requirements of Medicare Prospective Payment System. Actively takes part in exceptional customer care and accepts duty in preserving relationships that are similarly considerate to all.
