Position Title: Coding Coordinator

General Summary: Responsibility for coordination of workers and procedures in appointed locations of HIM Clinical Coding, and Coding Audit; Inpatient, Outpatient, Emergency and Professional Coding Performs quality and compliance audits. Evaluations medical record documents to figure out coding precision.

Essential Duties: Oversees range of responsibilities which can consist of acts as a professional coding resource for HIM Management, service line coders, workplace personnel and doctors. (Facility and Professional coding), evaluation of rejections and rejections consisting of HIM work lines, intricate coding problems, and quality efforts.

  • Maintains professional coding understanding (ICD-10- CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS) and understanding of federal government guidelines, 3rd party payor requirements and numerous compensation methods (MS-DRG, APR-DRG, APC, Rehab CMG, RVU).
  • Coordination of personnels daily operations, helps in difficulty shooting concerns, issue resolving and resolution of client service and/or billing problems. Recognize bothersome coding patterns based upon audit acitivity to supply continuous training and education.
  • Monitors objectives & goals for designated location to help in attaining turn-around times, personnel performance and quality.
  • Assists in interviews, training, therapy, audits, and assessing performace of personnel.
  • May assemble data, weekly & regular monthly reports and workers schedules.
  • Coordinates reactions to payor audits for reconsideration procedure (appeal preparation).
  • Review and total uncoded accounts in follow up and uncoded workques.
  • And other designated responsibilities.

Standard Qualifications

  • Associate degree in health info management or comparable pertinent work experience needed.
  • Minimum of 3 years of health center and/or expert coding experience
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS accreditation
  • Other Qualifications:

Excellent spoken and written interaction abilities for discussions and education sessions. Able to focus on tasks. Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities Ability to work separately and satisfy due dates. Computer system application abilities (Windows, Microsoft Office), electronic health record and encoder applications.
