The work of a medical coder entails equating medical documentation into code sets.
So what are the different code sets you will be utilizing?
They are:
ICD-10- CM.
CPT.
HCPCS.
ICD-10- CM describes why the procedures or services were carried out by the physicians.
ICD-10- PCS codes are used by Medical facility facilities to code surgeries. Typically used by inpatient coders. These codes are not utilized by doctor suppliers. CPC and COC tests do not test you on PCS coding.
CPT and HCPCS code sets explain the services and procedures carried out by physicians.
