Medical Coding Professional II (Department of Medication - Multi Specialized) - Float - Administrative Providers Structure


Task Description:

We are looking for a Medical Coding Professional II – Float to:

  • Make use of readily available encoder, grouper software application, and other coding resources to identify the proper ICD-10- CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS consisting of specialty particular codes and Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes.
  • Preserve an understanding and use understanding of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local Coverage Documents and National Protection Files (LCD/NCD) directives, Clinically Unlikely Edits (MUEs), and Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines, using knowledge of relevant regulative requirements and institutional guidelines to select suitable codes and modifiers.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to physicians and other providers concerning coding standards and requirements.

Education:

Minimum – High School diploma or comparable and Certified Medical Coding Program Graduate.

Preferred – Associate degree in a healthcare associated field.

Work Experience:

Minimum – One-year of progressive coding experience.

Preferred – Two years progressive coding experience in numerous specializeds.

Licenses and Accreditations:

Minimum – Certification as Licensed Professional Coder (CPC), Licensed Outpatient Coder (COC), Qualified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Qualified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Expert Physician-Based (CCS-P) or a Qualified Coding Associate (CCA) required.

Preferred – Registered Health Info Service Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Details Administrator (RHIA).

Required Abilities, Knowledge, and Capabilities:

  • Experience with coding ideas (Existing Procedural Terms (CPT), International Category of Disease 10 th Edition-Clinical Adjustment (ICD-10- CM), Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT), Healthcare Treatment Coding System (HCPCS), and Diagnosis Related Group (DRG).
  • Substantial understanding of medical terms.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word).
  • Extensive understanding of Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Demonstrated capability to work separately and in a group environment.
  • Reliable communication skills, composed and oral.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds optimum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such posts as dockets, journals and small tools. Although a sedentary task is specified as one, which involves sitting, a specific amount of strolling and standing is typically needed in performing task tasks. Jobs are inactive if walking and standing are needed just occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Set Up:

Full time, 40 hours weekly. 8: 00 AM – 4: 30 PM, Monday through Friday, versatile scheduling. Hours may vary based upon the functional requirements of the department.
