The Coding Operations Director for Education, Appeals and Special Projects is responsible for leading the efficient and reliable design, development, and delivery of coding operations education components for the HCA Physician Solutions Group (PSG). The education program elements include coding and Health Details Management (HIM) initiatives. In this remote based position, this person works as an essential promoter of Coding Operations and is accountable for setting the tone of Coding Operations as a service organization, continuously seeking to comprehend, fulfill, and go beyond consumer expectations and requirements.

What you will perform in this role:

  • Establish tactical coding and HIM communication and education plans which lay out the Appeal audience, training requirements, training approaches, application, and evaluation for PSG.
  • Handle the advancement of coding and HIM content-specific, competency-based, and functional based interaction and education deliverables in conjunction with specific company unit resources and technical professionals from the field.
  • Handle the delivery of communication and coding and HIM training to numerous groups, including management groups and end-users. Shipment methods may consist of instructor-led, train-the-trainer, virtual classroom, web-cast, or web-based methods.
  • Summary the PSG Coding Operations Appeals process and carry out process based on specific organization system need with feedback to proper team members consisting of the our operations organization partners.
  • Inform AVP and cross practical groups concerning special coding and HIM documents payer requirements, significant changes and developments.
  • Handle the upkeep of coding and HIM training administration records.
  • Manage the analysis of course assessments, and figure out proper action to include feedback into monthly performance feedback.
  • Manage and supply education to Central Coding Assistance personnel to assure quality of work.
  • Identify and carry out procedure enhancements to decrease expenses and enhance service to customers
  • Stay abreast of coding/billing regulative requirements and company compliance policies, ensuring timely personnel education.
  • Understand and communicate subtleties of distinct coding requirements for significant payers such as Medicare, Medicaid, HMO’s, PPO’s, IPA’s, employers, etc.
  • Demonstrate and share understanding of medical terms, International Classification of Illness (ICD) and Present Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding.

Qualifications

What Qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree needed, Masters degree preferred
  • Must hold a minimum of one certification in either: Qualified Coding Specialist (CCS), Qualified Coding Professional– Physician (CCS-P), RHIT (Registered Health Details Technician), RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) through AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) or AAPC’s (American Academy of Professional Coders) Qualified Expert Coder (CPC ® )credential or Licensed Expert Coder– Hospital (CPC-H ®).
  • Five years of experience in E/M and surgical coding plus repayment activities is needed.
  • In addition, a clinical background and previous chart abstraction experience is chosen.
  • Excellent composed, verbal communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Analytical and strong issue fixing abilities.
