The department of Pathology is actively looking for a full-time Manager, Medical Billing. The incumbent in this position works in conjunction with department leadership to establish and carry out policies and procedures to reduce inefficiencies and make the most of profits through the improvement of medical billing functions.

CORE TASK FUNCTIONS

Works with, trains, monitors, and mentors billing personnel to ensure accurate billing within the department. Implements and keeps finest practice and combination efforts of the front-end and back-end billing operations. Develops statistical reports, procedures, and systems to help with the management of billing functions. Lowers receivable and days outstanding through the advancement and enhancement of billing procedures. Prepares department and individual efficiency reports. Satisfies regularly with appropriate personnel and management to talk about billing and collection concerns and strategies. Evaluations and processes billing modifications, refunds, transfers, and returned checks. Establishes and constantly examines the efficiency of the internal controls within the system and compliance with University policies and procedures. Makes sure workers are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and treatments. Manage and monitor all billing functions related to Recommendation Service: front-end registration (one-click), charge user interface, 3rd party and customer billing and customer follow up for payment. Make sure that all Recommendation Service fee are processed prior to month closing and client statements are sent out monthly. Establish a strong process for prompt payments from customers and update the client cost schedule as instructed by the Referral Service Committee. Develop open communication and assistance to all Recommendation customer and internal customers and make sure that all questions and grievances are dealt with prompt and properly. Help Pathology Costumer Care on supplying CPTs and costs for new customers Deal with all customer contracts and update them as they expire. Ensure that the pre-paid account is managed timely and money is posted to the correct patient and charge. Monthly reconciliation must be made and undistributed money to be managed properly. Generate the Recommendation Service charges/collections report on the first week of on a monthly basis for pathologist’s payments. Work with Central Business Office to carry out brand-new procedures that will speed up laboratory charge processing and participate in the bi-weekly Pathology Subgroup conferences. Execute a comprehensive productivity report for the billing personnel. Establish performance metrics that will fulfill departmental and CBO objectives. Review and assess all rejections and propose ingenious concepts to enhance billing process. Participate in the CBO intermediary meeting with Pathology Department. Offer charge and payment reports to administration when requested. Assist Director of Choice Support on carrying out a 100% charge reconciliatory procedure for physiological pathology and clinical lab. Evaluation and upgrade all lab test menus to match with the appropriate CPT. Deal with compliance to make sure all billing processes are in accordance with CMS guidelines and policies.

CORE CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
  • Specialist Coding Specialist needed
  • Minimum 5 years of pertinent experience required
