Position Summary:

The Coding Lead Auditor/Educator under the guidance of the HIM Coding Supervisor carries out services in the Health Info Management Department according to the policies, treatments, approach, and goals of the department and health center. The Coding Lead Auditor/Educator works cooperatively within the department and with other service lines throughout Lowell General to produce a system of quality healthcare.

Tasks and Obligations:

  • Help with oversight of everyday activities in the Inpatient Coding location to consist of the use of Cerner Gain access to HIM, 3M, CDE One and Outlook by utilizing exceptional interaction with Inpatient Coders and the Coding Supervisor.
  • Helps with coding and abstracting the inpatient medical records to remain within 3 days of date of service. Experienced with DRG systems for Medicare, Blue Cross and other inpatient compensation payers.
  • Carries out in-service education with coders to enhance quality, precision with intro of brand-new innovations and code updates.
  • Carries out coding audits quarterly for Inpatient coders in order to keep quality/accuracy requirements with feedback to the coders and Coding Supervisor.
  • Appoints ICD-10- CM and ICD-10- PCS procedure/diagnosis codes to Inpatient records as needed. Abstracts information components in a precise and prompt way, as needed by the Department of Healthcare Financing and Policy.
  • Work daily the 72 H job line to make sure precise combines and prompt earnings repayment.
  • Carries out rejection management activities with denial/appeal evaluation and appeal letter preparation. Will clarify disparities with DRG claims and confirm billing and documents practices.
  • Continuously updates understanding of all coding/reimbursement standards and policies, consisting of however not restricted to, Authorities ICD-10- CM and ICD-10- PCS Standards for Coding, AHA Coding Clinics, CPT Assistant, insurance coverage particular requirements and other external instructional resources.
  • Perform other comparable and associated tasks as needed or directed.

Certifications

  • 3-5 year of experience in health care needed
  • Associates Degree Required
  • CCS Required
  • RHIT and RHIA chosen
