Coding/Billing Expert (CPC needed) - MedStar Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Centers

  • MedStar Ambulatory Services is presently looking for a CPC coder with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join our group as a Coding/Billing Specialist. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position, workingon-site in our workplace situated in Elkridge, Maryland.

Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Reimbursement Manager, evaluations and evaluates medical billing and coding for processing. Properly abstracts information and codes ambulatory surgical treatment center treatments for repayment utilizing ICD-10 CM, CPT-4, and other appropriate client category plans.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Training

High school graduation or equivalent. Partner’s or Bachelor’s degree chosen. Medical Coding Certification with effective conclusion of medical terms, anatomy, physiology, and coding courses in ICD-10- CM and CPT-4 chosen.

Experience

3 years coding experience. Experience with computer system systems for encoding and abstracting, ideally in an ambulatory surgical treatment.

License/Certification/Registration

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) needed. Qualified Ambulatory Surgical Center Coder (CASCC) chosen.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Verbal and composed interaction abilities. Fundamental computer system abilities chosen. Shown capability to strategy, arrange and focus on work duties. Understanding of essential Federal, State, and regional laws, codes, and guidelines connected to client billing and collection. Shown capability to use all coding guidelines and usage of CPT and ICD codes and proper usage of modifiers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Contributes to the accomplishment of recognized department objectives and goals and follows department policies, treatments, quality requirements, and security requirements. Complies with governmental and accreditation policies.

Reviews medical record documents for precision and to recognize medical diagnoses, modifiers, and treatments codes. Abstracts and codes to make sure precision of all needed billing and coding information aspects. Appoints right ICD-10, HCPCS and CPT codes utilizing standardized medical coding standards keeping department precision requirements.

Reviews and codes implant log appropriately determining implants used and identify their associated charge for precise and prompt claim submission.

Contacts doctor when contrasting or unclear details appears in the medical record, or if reports are missing out on or insufficient paperwork intensifying to management any that stay unsettled after designated time.

Performs prompt and precise charge entry into billing system. Fixes up charges and carries out batch processing. Send claims as appropriate.

Adheres and uses coding standards particular to legal requirements of all Medicare, Medicaid, handled care strategies and personal payors.

Ensures that all codes are present and active. Functions as resource relating to insurance coverage resolution and coding concerns.

Maintains tracking file of all exceptional and unbilled cases that are not total.

Maintains continuing education needed for task category.

Meets department efficiency for variety of cases daily and a recognized precision rate.

Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service enhancement groups as proper. Takes part in conferences, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in neighborhood outreach efforts as proper.
