We are looking for a Coding Supervisor to:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance of coding personnel and offer feedback to the Coding Manager.
  • Provide continuous feedback to personnel on locations of enhancement.
  • Provide or schedule needed knowledge-based resources needed by the coding personnel to satisfy quality and production requirements.
  • Prepare staffing schedules to supply sufficient protection for all work lines and bodies of work.

Education:

Minimum – Graduate of a Medical Coding Program or associate degree in health care associated field. Experience in lieu of education might be thought about.

Preferred – Graduate of a Health Information Technology Program.

Work Experience:

Minimum – Two (2) years medical coding experience with a minimum of one (1) year in a management function.

Preferred – Two (2) years supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – Certification as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Coding Associate (CCA) needed.

Preferred – Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • In depth understanding of coding procedure, coding systems software application, workflow management, and electronic medical records.
  • Advanced understanding of the ICD-10 CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding systems and conventions.
  • Advanced understanding of, however not restricted to, Official Coding Guidelines and methods. MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, APCs, and Clinical Documentation standards.
  • Familiarity of automated/computerized encoders, groupers, abstracting, database, billing systems, medical records.
  • Proven/demonstrated abilities in usage of encoder grouping and abstracting software application.
  • Knowledge of the concepts and practices of guidance as used to the management and instructions of workers.
  • Strong organizational, preparation, scheduling and task management capabilities.
  • Excellent management capability.
  • Excellent oral and written interaction abilities.
  • Excellent vital thinking abilities.
  • Excellent analytical capability to establish and examine information to suggest services and fix intricate issues.
  • Ability to adjust to modifications in work and work functions and to successfully focus on work projects.
  • Ability to guarantee a high level of client fulfillment consisting of staff members, clients, visitors, professors and other departments within UWHC/UWMF.

Physical Requirements:

Work Schedule:
