Under basic instructions from the Quality Assurance Manager, carries out quality control tracking evaluations of scientific quality coding personnel work activities to make sure compliance with the components of the quality program such as Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC)/ Medicare Advantage Program along with coding standards and policies. Evaluates findings from quality tracking evaluations of coding personnel, and other appropriate coding information, in order to offer feedback and assistance for training and scientific paperwork enhancement efforts. Offers tracking outcomes to Clinical Quality Coding Lead in addition to Clinical Quality Coding Manager and Clinical Quality Coding Educators with shared suggestions for course-correction and education as required.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors chosen or comparable education/experience

Licensures and Certifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist – Professional (CCS-P), and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) needed
  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) within 1 Year needed

Experience

  • 6-9 years expert coding experience needed.
  • Proficient usage of grouper software application and/or coding referral books to assign/validate medical diagnosis codes needed.
  • 6 mos-2 years experience performing Coding Quality Assurance requirements, procedures, policies, treatments and service level arrangements needed.
  • Demonstrated experience in the basics of auditing and tracking needed.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of ICD-10 medical diagnosis coding conventions and requirements, understanding of Quality Coding Program requirements such as the Medicare Advantage Coding Program/HCC, along with medical terms and abbreviations of illness, disease and injury procedure.
  • Proficient usage of software application and/or coding referral books to assign/validate medical diagnosis codes.
  • Computer keyboarding abilities and experience with digital coding/abstracting systems and encoders Ability to utilize spreadsheet, data processing, analytical, task management, and discussion software application applications, ideally Microsoft Suite.
  • Demonstrated strong composed and spoken interactions abilities to affect others utilizing individually contact, official discussions, and seminar, with the capability to acknowledge the proper design, level of information, and message for the audience.
