” From the February 2014 Coding Accreditation Q and A Webinar”: Free for All!”.
I have to tell you I really like heart and I truly like anatomy. I like terminology and I like the physiology of the disease process and stuff.
There have been numerous requests coming in for some assist with heart coding and I think that it’s not as hard as some people believe it is, as soon as you get in and begin doing it. Yes, there are perhaps some intricate guidelines but they’re not that tough. I do not even want to say they’re complicated, they’re not; it’s just that they are detailed so you need to know the terminology. Andif you know the terms and you understand the anatomy, it’s not bad at all. There’s individuals who are cardiac coders that thinks it’s not tough since it’s what they do every day; nevertheless, somebody just stepping in, they have a hard time.
What I chose to do is provide you some basics of cardiac knowledge that you require to begin with. If you get this stuff down, then it’s going to make cardiology coding a lot easier. Again, this is fundamental and after that you can get into advanced; but it is a great deal of info so I needed to divide it up into 2 slides.
