Summary of Duties and Obligations

  • Quarterly audits of insurance coverage charges
  • Evaluate provider documents to assure the appropriate Evaluation & Management levels are designated using the appropriate CPT code
  • Evaluate medical records for documentation consistency and adequacy
  • Interact with service providers regarding differences in level and work with them to update paperwork or have them concur to changing level.
  • Assist billing group to develop the medical need of charges
  • Provides feedback to the service providers and scientific staff on coding problems and denials
  • Identify billing mistake patterns and communicate with companies as determined
  • Supply training to each service provider concerning errors determined
  • Monitor and audit proper medical diagnosis codes with appropriate CPT codes for billing functions
  • Review proper medical codes to all diagnoses or services
  • Participate with other personnel to follow up on accounts until account balance is zero
  • Total coding tasks as required
  • Help with charge entry in all locations as needed
  • Other responsibilities as designated

Education, Prior Work Experience, Special Skill and Knowledge Requirements

  • Certified Expert Coding (CPC) accreditation required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Basic Computer system Skills-must understand Excel
  • 2 years of experience in ASC coding and insurance billing required
  • Knowledge of the ICD-10, ICD-9, and CPT-/ HCPCS universal coding systems.
  • Well arranged with a capability to fulfill deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Strong verbal and written interaction skills
