The HIM Coding Ops Supervisor will monitor a team of 20 to 30 mostly remote-based medical coding associates and is responsible for managing their efficiency, productivity, and quality; will oversee the assignment of suitable ICD-10- CM and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures in accordance with all suitable coding standards, rules and regulations.

In addition to the supervisory responsibilities, the Website Coding Manager works straight with R1’s ® consumers to interact coding efficiency, collaboratively recognize and resolve problems, help in managing tasks and assist to provide on monetary and operational commitments related to coding.

The candidate need to have experience in Health Info Management, proficiency in medical coding, strong leadership abilities, and exceptional social and teamwork attributes.

Duties:

  • Ensures handled coders fulfill or surpass performance requirements (measured in charts per hour and downtime) and quality requirements.
  • Monitors and directs everyday coder work schedules and work tasks.
  • Helps with evaluation, training, and onboarding of new-hires; produces 30/60/90 day ramp-up plans for new associates.
  • Develops and handles private growth and development plans for coders related to quality, efficiency and employee development.
  • Administers yearly (or more frequent as required) evaluations of coder efficiency and competence.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs coding workflow to go beyond system-wide DNFC targets and consistently preserves a zero-backlog coding queue; personally liable to DNFC performance.
  • Assists different procedure enhancement projects related to the coding workflow.
  • Determines and fixes moderate to complex issues associated with coding workflows.
  • Enhances staffing performance by minimizing production downtime and slowness to satisfy particular expense targets.
  • Carries out findings from Regional Coding Supervisor to fulfill or exceed team coding quality standards (measured by DRG, diagnosis, treatment, modifier precision).
  • Recognizes, tracks, and reports key barriers and process problems to the customer and management groups on weekly basis.

Needed Credentials:

  • Appropriate Coding Credential: CCS for Inpatient and CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H for Outpatient. RHIA or RHIT certification preferred, but not needed.
  • Experience operating in an HIM department.
  • A minimum of 2 years of medical coding experience.
  • Excellent social team effort abilities.
  • Strong analytical abilities with the ability to handle cross-functional resolutions against a due date.
  • Strong analytical abilities and capability to understand and examine large quantities of operational data.
  • Should be able to use basic office equipment and information systems.
  • Capability to engage with clients, internal R1 personnel, and workers through efficient interaction.
  • Ability to prioritize and shift workloads to ensure departmental objectives align with earnings cycle goals.
