Coding Auditor- Professional Billing

I. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, perform audits of physician services to increase and strengthen physician awareness and understanding of medical record documentation and coding guidelines. Provide coding education to providers.

Education

Specialized training in coding procedures, anatomy and physiology and medical terminology obtained

through seminars and college courses.

Experience

2 yrs of coding and/or billing related experience.

Skills

· Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. (medical terminology, pathophysiology or anatomy)

· Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-9, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding

· Knowledge of hospital billing, hospital administration, coding, and specific billing requirements of third party payers

· Knowledge of physician billing and coding and specific billing requirements of third party payers

· Skill in oral and written communication

· Skill in using computers and personal productivity applications

· Advanced analytical skills to identify compliance related issues and recommend corrective action

· Advanced skill in planning audits (scheduling, organizing, and multi-tasking)

· Demonstrated ability to constructively and sensitively provide feedback to providers and medical center leadership regarding audit findings

· Demonstrated ability to design and implement training programs

Licensures, Certifications

CPC required

Physical Requirements

· Ability to sit, stand, walk, concentrate and pay close attention to detail

Working Conditions

· Works in normal office environment where there are no physical discomforts due to dust, dirt, noise, and the like. Work frequently produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue
