The Medical Case Specialist schedule appointments and tracks in the case management systems. Compiles and generate reports, correspondence and presentations. You will compile data and information generate reports and presentations to other units.
Responsibilities
- Answer calls and communicate directly with claimants and providers
- Triage daily referrals and assign worksheets to corresponding conditions as identified by Veteran s Administration
- Obtain medical history and CPT/CLIN code for specific conditions
- Determine appropriate examinations, tests and specialists required for each case
- Schedule appointments for examinees including follow-ups
- Ensure all examinees and providers receive the necessary documentation
- Confirm consultative reports and diagnostic test results are received in a timely manner
Skills to be successful
- Plan workload to manage priorities in a fast-paced work environment
- Work efficiently and meet contract timelines
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems
Requirements
- 1 year of related healthcare experience
- Experience with electronic medical scheduling and case management software
- Knowledge of medical coding and terminology
- High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
- Must be able to successfully pass national (NACI) background investigation
Be flexible to work early morning, evening, and/or weekend shifts
