Melaleuca CEO announces proposed medical billing legislation to Idaho legislators

Frank VanderSloot talked to lots of Idaho lawmakers at Melaleuca Global Head office Monday night and announced proposed changes to medical billing laws.

VanderSloot is proposing that healthcare providers can not gather on medical debt unless:

– Within 30 days of service, doctor have submitted all expenses to the patient’s insurance plan.
– Within 30 days of service, healthcare providers have offered notice of services rendered (not a bill) to the patient and healthcare facility where services were provided.
– Within 60 days of service, the health care facility where services were rendered offers a consolidated notice to the patient with the names and contact details all healthcare providers.
– The healthcare provider has actually sent a final expense (after insurer has actually paid its share) to the patient that plainly specifies what is still owed by the client.

VanderSloot is also proposing that rules concerning attorney charges in medical cases must incentivize collection of financial obligations in little claims court and forbid extreme costs.
